@nadrugieamelia
ZUZANNA KRZOS (2003) is a visual artist, (graphic) designer and researcher. her distinctly autonomous practice finds the middle ground for both applied and fine arts praxis. through symbolism, exploration of subtexts and deconstruction, she explores topics such as feminity, kitsch and nostalgia. her work takes from a personal experience, often referring to her ancestry and eastern european origin. this is exhibited in the recurring themes of faith, christianity, and cultivation. shaped by the frigid, post-communist decadence, she seeks to create her personal world, her own reality through radical experimentation of the economy of trust.

From Wings to Closed Eyes
Publication
16x10 cm, handbound in bleached linen
2022

Based on found images and family archives, it combines elements common in children’s books, such as hidden images and unfoldable elements that add a sense of playfulness to the whole. The design combines elements of a family album with infantile aesthetics like a child’s handwriting, paper cutouts, and play. It uses Japanese binding and a bleached linen hardcover,  referring to the slumber state.
